Pakistan: 22 Killed, 60 Injured in bomb blasts, firing at Peshawar Mosque

Feb 13, – 22  people were killed and at least 60 were reported injured in three consecutive blasts in a Shiite mosque in Hayatabad Phase-5 in Peshawar.

hromedia Pakistan 22 Killed, 60 Injured in bomb blasts, firing at Peshawar Mosque intl. news5Witnesses were quoted saying that six men; in Frontier Corps (FC) uniform, entered the mosque during Friday prayers and hurled grenades at the security personnel deputed at the site. One of the attackers also reportedly blew himself up. Intense firing also continued for several minutes inside the mosque.

Police and rescue workers rushed to the site and the injured were shifted to nearby hospitals where many are said to be critical.

Frontier Corps personnel have launched an operation in the mosque. Elite force, Pakistan Army and Anti-Terror Squad were also summoned to the site.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervaz Khattak were stopped to approach the site due to the ongoing operation.
