Mother of infant brutally gang raped, died after car driven over her head

Three men and a woman were arrested and booked for offences of kidnapping, unnatural sex, gang rape and murder of a girl on horrifying night of February 20, 2014.

gang rapedThe woman, who is also mother of one and half month old baby was abducted by four men, in a planned conspiracy, her aunt Nirmala Devi, trapped the victim by calling her to the rapists Lavish Shimla residence, Mitwa cottage in Baldya Mashobra Koti Resort and was gang-raped by four men. The brutality continued that evening, culprits made her parade naked alongside the cottage when victim managed get in to the Naldera golf course main road; culprits chased her with their four wheel drive and ran her over under the wheel s of their car, she has been dragged several meters away, died on the spot.

Five accused in the crime identified as Pankaj Modi, Vikram Negi, Tara Chand and Nirmala Devi four arrested and interrogated by Simla police.

The Owner of the Mitwa cottage, main accused Manmohan Singh, escaped from the scene, his whereabouts still Unknown police launch manhunt to capture the rapist.

The incident took place on Thursday evening on the 20th of Feb 2014, when Nirmala Devi called the victim to Mitwa cottage pretending as she is sick need her help in domestic work, upon her request the victim approach to her aunt who is also the caretaker of Mitwa cottage.

When she entered into the cottage four men allegedly gang raped her for several hours before they took her to the main road where they drove their car over her head, she succumbed to her injuries died on the spot. She is survived by her new born baby who is one and half month old.

Sparking protests in the city of shimla, Police said they have issued an arrest warrant and alerted Punjab police to nab the main accused who seems to be hiding in Jalandhar. Several hundred activists today protested in Shimla over the crime, which was shocking in its brutality.

Rampant rape, assault and harassment of women in India was in the spotlight in the past after the fatal gang-rape of a 23-year-old student on a moving bus in New Delhi in December 2012 sparked nationwide outrage.

The parliament has since passed tougher laws to punish rapists.

Activists say rape victims in India often face severe threats and intimidation from their attackers after the assault, while police often discourage them from lodging complaints.
