Norway arrests dozens for sharing child pornography online

Dec 05, – Norwegian police said on Thursday they had arrested or interrogated 73 suspects believed to have shared child pornography on the Internet. The police seized 173 computers in a nationwide operation on Wednesday, criminal police inspector Bjoern-Erik Ludvigsen said at a Press conference.

In one case, more than 600,000 pornographic images were found.

β€œIt’s only the tip of the iceberg,” Ludvigsen said.

The police said they did not have any proof at this point that the suspects had participated in sexual assaults against the children.

However, they added that past experience has shown that around 30 per cent of those who share child pornography on the Internet tend to be involved in the assaults.
