US launches 59 missiles on Assad forces in Syria in response to chemical attack

US president Donald trump has launched a huge military strike on Syria following a sickening chemical attack, officials confirmed.

us president59 Tomahawk cruise missiles were launched from US Navy destroyers at an airbase in the country in the early hours of Friday morning.

Trump’s sudden change in foreign policy crisis since taking office in January, US president took the toughest direct US action yet in Syria’s six-year-old civil war.

Trump administration and the international condemned the barbaric chemical attack that killed around 100 civilians on Tuesday in a chlorine gas attack believed to have been masterminded by President Bashar al-Assad’s regime.

US response was immediately condemned by Russia, president Vladimir Putin said it is an act of aggression against a sovereign country that put the fight against terrorism in jeopardy.

Announcing the airstrikes in an address to the world, Trump said: “Tonight, I ordered a targeted military strike on the airfield in Syria from where the chemical attack was launched.

“It is in this vital national security interest of the United States to prevent and deter the spread and use of deadly chemical weapons.

“There can be no dispute that Syria used banned chemical weapons, violated its obligations under the chemical weapons convention and ignored the urging of the UN Security Council.

“Using a deadly nerve agent, Assad choked out the lives of helpless mean, women and children. It was a slow and brutal death for so many.”
