A 16-year-old girl among four people have been arrested on suspicion of planning a terrorist attack in Paris.

After police tracked the four on suspicious ground It is thought they may have been identified on social media.

According to the French investigators they planned an ‘explosive belt’ attack on tourist hotspots in the French capital.

Computer equipment and explosives were allegedly found by officers in the southern French city.

Counter-terror officers are reported to have discovered explosive substances and computer equipment at the suspects’ homes.

The arrests come just days after it was announced the Eiffel Tower will soon be flanked by two 8-foot walls of bulletproof glass, Parisian officials have announced, in an attempt to ward off potential terror attacks at the landmark site.

Agence France-Presse reports that the $21.2 million project is set to be built later this year, according to a statement released by municipal authorities.

Exactly a week after four soldiers were attacked with a machete outside the Louvre in the heart of the French capital.

Egyptian Abdullah Reda al-Hamahmy, 29, was shot five times in the stomach last Friday outside the landmark museum.
