India: Woman gang-raped by 10 men, including husband in Madhya Pradesh
June 14, – A tribal woman was allegedly gang-raped by 10 men, including her husband, in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhilai Borkhedi village. She was also allegedly made to drink urine and paraded semi-naked in the village.
The horrific crimes against women just refuse to cease. In a shocking incident 30-year-old married tribal woman also forced to drink urine by nearly 10 men of her village including her estranged husband with whom the victim is having a property dispute.
The victim’s terrified 10-year-old son was also present at the spot when the incident took place on 10 June in village Bilai Khedi under Piplod police station, about 60 km from the Khandwa district headquarters in Madhya Pradesh. According to police, the victim is living separately from her husband and accused Kailash Bhil (35) for the past few months due to the property dispute. She told police that on 10 June, Kailash called her to an agricultural field in the village to settle the dispute. The woman took her son along.
However, when they reached there, Kailash along with about 10 other men, all in an intoxicated condition, first brutally thrashed her and then gangraped her. She alleged that she was also paraded naked and forced to consume urine.
The victim later narrated her ordeal to her parents and then lodged a complaint with the police on Friday. Khandwa SP Manoj Sharma reached the village along with other officials. Mr Sharma said that nine persons, including the victim’s husband, have been arrested and further investigations are on.
The victim has been admitted to a hospital where her medical examination was conducted and she is undergoing treatment.
Madhya Pradesh registered 4335 rape cases in 2013 and 3425 in 2012, which was the highest in the country, according to figures of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).
