Egypt: Female Journalist Shot, Killed in Cairo clashes
Mar 29, Cairo – A 20-year-old female reporter for an independent newspaper was shot dead Friday while covering pro-Morsi demonstrations in the northern Cairo neighborhood of Ein Shams, sources said.
Her name was ”Mayada Acharaf, she worked for Adoustour newspaper and she was killed by the Muslim Brotherhood”, according to Veto independent website.
”She was shot by security forces”, Al Jazeera reported.
Her death brings to three the fatalities in Ein Shams, where security forces clashed with pro-Morsi protesters, according to General Ousama al-Saghir, the Cairo security chief. He cited the names of the victims as Mayada Acharaf, journalist, giornalista, Merry Sameh, a Copt, and Karim Mahmoud.
Sameh was killed by a gunshot to the neck while about to move her car so it wouldn’t be damaged in the clashes, eyewitnesses said.
