Giant asteroid to pass between Earth and moon tonight

Mar 05, – A giant asteroid will pass extremely close by to earth and our moon tonight, according to NASA. While the asteroid will come close enough for star gazers with a good telescope to see the celestial event, there will be no an apocalyptic near miss, with its closest distance from earth estimated to be 350,000km away.

The asteroid, named 2014 DX110, is  98 feet and will be travelling at speed of 33,000 mph. It will pass earth at 02:30 am IST time.

The Virtual Telescope Project and Slooh will be providing a live webcast and real-time images of the asteroid.
